“The worst things in life can either destroy us or shape us into the person we are meant to be.”

Jessa Dillow Crisp
USA | Sex trafficking | Counselor | 30 drawing hours
Jessa Dillow Crisp was sexually abused by family as a child in Canada, which progressed to being given to child pornographers and pimps in the suburbs. She was trafficked in Canada, the USA and internationally.
She saw many horrors including a murder of someone very close to her, and police officers as her buyers who threatened her. She was scared to reach out for help, believing she had no worth, was shameful, and was only good for sex.
Jessa escaped to the US with the help of a woman who gave her a number, but was trafficked again at 21 due to visa issues. After escaping a second time, Jessa found herself at a safe house.
Through the encouragement of the director at that safe house, Jessa gained the courage to enroll in college though she never had an education growing up.
She was told, “If you can read you can learn anything.”
Jessa graduated with a BA in Clinical Counseling with a 4.0 GPA, married the man of her dreams, and is currently a PhD student in Counselor Education and Supervision.
